Located at the top of a hill dominating the Sienese Chianti countryside, making it a perfect setting for your holiday in the heart of Tuscany, the Medieval Tower is right at the gates of the Chianti Classico district, in Tuscany, surrounded by woods and vineyards. 12 km from San Gimignano, 20 km from Siena, 35 km from Florence, 30 km from Volterra. “Luco”, a small village just a few hundred metres from a 13th-century castle, with its drawbridge, its crenellated tower and its gardens: the magnificent Castle of Strozzavolpe. On the web you may find lots of infos about it, just for you to know WE HAVE THE KEYS OF THE CASTLE!!! Do not look for swimming pools, air conditioning and whirlpool bathtubs: at Strozzavolpe you will not find any of them, we can give your a holiday at the discover of ancient traditions. The owner of the farm has passionately managed to preserve not only the environment, but also the many ancient traditions surviving in this unique place. DESCRIPTION:
The apartment is inside the Medieval Tower of Luco.
You can still walk on the original cotto-floors and open and lock the doors using the ancient latches and locks, that together with the beamed ceilings help recreating the warm atmosphere of ancient Tuscan houses. The apartment overlooks the wonderful Sienese Chianti countryside. You can relax in the internal courtyard and in the garden. The barbecue equipment is at guests’ disposal. In nearby Poggibonsi (1.5 km from Castle of Strozzavolpe) you will find anything you need for comfortable holidays: supermarkets, a shopping centre, chemists’, banks, post office. SERVICES:
The apartment is self catering with a kitchen completely equipped.
Prices include water and electricity consumption and household linen. Prices do not include the use of heating during the winter, calculated on consumption (5 Euro/mc).
HOW TO REACH US
From Florence
Take the slip-road to Siena at Firenze Certosa and exit after about 40 km at . Turn left at the first roundabout; after the bridge, at the second roundabout turn left (via del Colombaio) and follow the directions to Villa le Rose – Castellina in Chianti.
Less than 1 km after the sports facilities you will see the sings “Strozzavolpe” and “Luco” on your left.
A “white road” bordered by high cypresses winds among the vineyards until Villaggio di Luco.
From the square of the village you will see on your left an imposing medieval tower: there, after a few dozens of meters along a slightly sloping road, you will find the apartment of your choice.
From Siena
Take the slip-road to Florence and exit at Poggibonsi sud after about 20 km. The follow the instructions as above. |
