The convent was very well located with a magnificent view from the terrace. The nuns and staff were quite friendly but communication could be a problem given their lack of English and our very rudimentary Italian. The midnight curfew was not a problem for us but could be for others. A major problem for us was the lack of air conditioning which made the nights very uncomfortable. We were later provided with an electric fan which did help somewhat. some minor quibbles was the lack of room cleaning on Saturday and Sunday and the need to use the intercom to get in trough the gate at the end of the drive. I would return for the view alone, but I would probably travel at a cooler time of year and learn some more Italian. Price quoted above scored as poor because no price was given on the website. scritto da Anonimo il 10/Jul/2008

La Culla Convent is a very sweet place to stay. The location is set back from the main street away from the noise but close to all of the shops. The building itself has clearly undergone renovations and looks wonderful; lots of marble surfaces and wood trim. The rooms are just like that of the pictures--beds in a large room with a few lamps and side tables. There was plenty of space for 3 in our quad. The bathroom was spacious and clean as well. Breakfast is not that great at all. We decided on day 2 that waking up early for bread and butter was not worth it. Prayer time in the beautiful chapel after a long and hetic day was a highlight of our stay. Oh, and have your Italian phrase book handy as the nuns and the helpers barely speak english. scritto da Anonimo il 28/May/2008

La Culla has a beautiful view on the Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. It´s a simple accommodation, especially suited for groups. It´s a bit far from the centre of Sorrento (more than 500 metres from the station!) and although 15 minutes walking is not that bad, the Corso is not very agreeable because of the traffic. If you do not want luxury, this is your place. scritto da Barbara Luijken il 8/Nov/2007

1. When the gate to the steps was closed at night ,the uneven path to the convent was very dark as the lights were never on. 2. It did not seem to us that any of the nuns spoke English, so we wondered who we could have contacted in an emergency at night. 3. The bathroom in our room no.28. could do with upgrading. scritto da Tony Byrne , IRELAND. il 28/Sep/2007

Nice quiet place to stay, away from the busy tourist center. Our agent (Ernesto) met us at the rail station, which was most helpful, and he walked us to the convent - about a 15 minute walk, with our luggages in tow. Able to walk to the center of Sorrento (Piazza Tasso) quite easily. The villa is awesome in that it is well situated and the view from the terrace is indeed stunning. Did experience some thunder and lightning on our 1st night + a black out, which made our 1st night quite spooky but we now laugh about it. No AC or ceiling fan in our room, but it cools down at night. Towels appeared clean, but felt a bit thin/worn out. No frills - bring your bath soap, shampoo etc. Continental breakfast was sufficient, 8-9am only. The sisters did not speak English, but they were very obliging and pleasant; we requested for a taxi the night before we departed, and luckily, there was someone who spoke English, and timely arrangement for a taxi was made. The ascending walkway from the street to the convent building, at night, was a bit scary, as there did not appear to be any lights. No biggie, we just walked really fast! scritto da Ali, Joe, Cris & Mo il 18/Sep/2007

The person greeting at the arrivals should meet them with a car to transport them to the convent... Don´t let 60 year old people carry their bags 2 kilometers uphill to a convent! In June, there should be fans in the rooms... The nights were very warm without fans!!! scritto da Anonimo il 3/Sep/2007

We really enjoyed our stay at LaCulla. It would be nice for you to maybe recommend restaurants or tours in the area. This would have saved us time and effort. scritto da Philippe Déziel (Canada) il 9/Jul/2007
