ROBUR MARSORUM
Detailsthe entrance with the snow Number of guests: 6
LOCATION:
Twelve months of magic, 365 days of enchantment in a land that has everything to offer. “Rovere”, which derives from the latin word “Robur”, is a word which states the diffusion of a variety of oak (robur) capable of growing even in the highest altitudes. Since the Roman times, this area was known as being a votive area along the Via Poplica-Campana which connected the city of Amiternum and Aveia Vestina to Alba Fucens. After having been a Benedictine farm, it took on the vital role of defending the local territory: it changed into becoming “castum”, a small community defended by a surrounding wall and a castle where still today, there are, remains on the hilltop where the village is situated.
Today Rovere is a village which can meet with the high standards of life and the high influx of mountain tourism. The paving of the roads and the squares have all been carefully laid and after endless archeological work, the medieval castle has also been carefully restructured and the relics found there have been partly kept in the archeological Museum near S.Peter’s church. DESCRIPTION:
The ideology behind “Albergo Diffuso” is based on the preservation of this much loved enchanting village and the need to share this land’s heritage through its customs, its products and objects which through the centuries have been passed down to our generation today.
SERVICES:
The leisure activities made available to the tourist on the surrounding territory are excursions to protected wildlife centres and organized wildlife tours. Within the vicinity the area also offers the tourist three well-equipped skiing facilities, a gastronomical trail and infinite excursions of nature walking trails on mountain bikes.
HORSE TRAILS
A horse trail project has been made in the regional Sirente Velino Park, to cover the surrounding 300km which includes the towns and nearby villages of the protected area. The nearby fountains, drinking troughs and others water sources encountered along the trails, have all been restructured and new restoration areas have been set up with huts and places to light fires all clearly signposted. The horse trail, which can be pleasantly followed daily, allows the tourist to discover the once forgotten trails. All this allows the tourist to combine the discovery of nature with the history and culture of the area therefore the possibility of shifting from mountain scenary to ones of valleys and rivers.
SKIING FACILITIES
There are also some skiing facilities nearby which provide the most modern equipment and can offer the tourist different types of slopes which can both satisfy the needs of a beginner and offer challenging slopes to even the most demanding skiers i.e. nordic skiing, alternating skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, acrobatic skiing, freestyle, ski hiking, downhill skiing (Canale Maiori).
